Hanhiae Yellow

The model specimen was found by Mr. Tuan Anh Le on August 5, 2013 in the province of Hai Lang, Hai Lang (Central Vietnam), in a secondary wide-leaf forest, on a marshy lowland, near the sea shore.

Hoya hanhiae is named after plant researcher Mrs. Nguyen Thuy Hanh.

Hoya hanhiae is an epiphytic vine with milk juice in all parts of the plant. Young stems, stalks and puffy stems, in adulthood smooth. The stems are curved, 3-5 m long, with bloated knots, internecines up to 12 cm long.

Leaves are fleshy, egg-shaped or wide-egg-shaped, smooth, 6-17 cm long, 4-10 cm wide, with a rounded or wedge-shaped base, pointy top, slightly curved edge; With 3-5 veins moving away from the base; 2 veins closest to the edge, usually obscure, visible on the top surface of the sheet, almost invisible on the underside of the sheet; secondary veins cover the sheet with a mesh pattern. The leaves on the top surface are glossy, green, on the bottom surface dim-white-gray.

The inflorescences are hemisphere-shaped, in a floral umbrella opens 25-43 individual flowers with a diameter of about 1 cm. The color of the whisk varies in color from pale yellow to pink-purple. The blades of the whisk outside are smooth, inside the puffy; crown 3-3.5 mm in diameter, concave in the center, pink or pink-purple, glossy. In the natural habitat Of Hoya hanhiae blooms from June to August. Flowers open at the end of the day or at dawn, open for a short time: 3-4 days.
