Hoya forbesii was found by Henry Ogg Forbes in Gunung Kaba Sumatra, Indonesia and named after him.
Hoya forbesii - winding epiphytic liana, climbing through the trees. Peel shoots with age becomes pale brown bright color. Leaves are leathery, ovate-oblong or obovoid. The top of the leaves is pointed, the base is rounded; the upper surface is smooth and shiny; the lower surface is papillary pubescent; the edges of the leaves are slightly curved. Leaf size 10-18 cm long, 6-10 cm wide. The main vein is strong, well visible. From the main vein at an angle of 40 ° there are approximately 7 pairs of secondary veins; veins of a smaller order form a mesh pattern on the upper surface. The scape of the leaves is very thick, about 1.25 cm long. In a flower umbrella, 10-15 individual flowers with a diameter of 1 cm open. The flower corolla is flat, the corolla blades are smooth, glossy, greenish-yellow, the tips of the corolla blades are slightly bent back. The crown of the flower is yellowish white. Nectar is not produced, the smell is absent, flowering lasts one day.
